I recently directed the metaMorphology Lab for SPIN Unit, hosted by Tampere University of Technology. 43 students of 14 nationalities participated to the laboratory and together produced an interesting set of mini-research projects for the city of Helsinki.

Helsinki life in Transit

Through an analysis of social media data, we set out to explore transit hubs in Helsinki. We identify potential for future development, and highlight already well-connected locations that could be enhanced to facilitate future urban encounters.

Collective landscape of Helsinki

The novel concept of visual landscape branding¹ emphasises the key role of landscape in place branding. With this concept as a starting point, we wanted study the popular landscapes of Helsinki photographed in social media to expose visual landscapes determined by locals of Helsinki.
