This year I received the ESRI Young Scholar Award at the ESRI User Conference in San Diego in July 2015. The prize was given for the maps he designed in the research project A sense of place commissioned by the City of Turku.
I want to express my gratitude to the Turku Urban Research Program for supporting our research at SPIN Unit, the Architecture dept. of the Estonian Academy of Arts for providing software infrastructures and to AlphaGIS for hosting me overseas.
Every year ESRI organises an international competition to select the most unique maps of the year. With over 900 submissions, one map I designed for SPIN Unit was awarded the 2nd prize as the Most Unique Map of the year with. The map was also be featured in XYHT Magazine in September 2015.
