TERREFORM CAUR, SPIN Unit and Tampere School of Architecture came together to launch a workshop to tackle issues of re-appropriation of bombed sites in Gaza’s urban areas and their reconstruction.
Open Gaza workshop
I designed the workshop to:
- Reflect on the meaning of public space in Gaza and the socio-cultural re-appropriation of bombed sites in dense urban areas – in a context where gathering in public space is considered a high-risk practice.
- Find architectural solutions to redesign publicly accessible and socially meaningful space in areas of recent bombing and distress.
- Study and experiment how scrap materials from bombed and demolished dwellings can be reused as construction material.
